Education

At Suvai Deaf East Community, we offer a variety of educational programmes tailored to the Deaf community and their families. Our sessions are designed to provide essential skills like British Sign Language (BSL) and help participants thrive in everyday life.

Our Educational Sessions Include:

  1. British Sign Language (BSL) Classes:

    • Whether you’re new to BSL or want to improve your fluency, our classes cater to all levels. Taught by experienced Deaf tutors, these sessions help both the Deaf community and hearing individuals learn to communicate more effectively. Join us to bridge the communication gap and create more inclusive spaces!

  2. Toddler Club:

    • Our Toddler Club offers a welcoming environment where Deaf children and their families can engage in fun, educational activities. The club provides early childhood learning opportunities with a focus on sensory and communication development through play and BSL integration.

  3. Basic English Sessions:

    • These classes are designed to improve English literacy skills for Deaf individuals, including reading and writing. Our tutors provide tailored support to ensure participants can confidently use English in daily life, whether for work, education, or personal development.

  4. Driving Theory Classes:

    • We offer specialised Driving Theory sessions that prepare Deaf learners for their theory test. These sessions are conducted with full BSL support, ensuring participants have all the tools they need to understand road rules and driving safety.

  5. Money Management (CAP Programme):

    • Our Money Management Programme, run in collaboration with Christians Against Poverty (CAP), helps Deaf individuals gain financial literacy. Learn how to budget, save and manage your finances effectively in a supportive, Deaf-friendly environment.
